This workshop will demonstrate for K-6 teachers how to integrate diverse read aloud texts and incorporate an equity and excellence framework in science while maintaining the complexity of Texas’ grade level science and reading and language arts standards.  The facilitator will provide strategically crafted lessons that promote the understanding of the three-dimensional science framework, academic and domain specific vocabulary, and high-quality text-dependent questions.  Participants will get a hands-on, minds-on experience using read aloud text to integrate meaningful science content with explicit language and literacy standards to create innovative learning experiences.  All participants will receive CLOSE reading tools and lesson samples.
